Living the Karate Do Lifestyle in Beautiful Hope BC

It was the summer of 1973 when I enrolled at our YMCA for my first Karate lesson. I was just 13 then.  In the beginning, Karate helped me build character and confidence. Today, I feel it's presence in every part of my daily life. Everything I do,  from  my posture, or demeanor, and perspective, is influenced by Karate Do (The Way of the Empty Hand).  The older I get, I find that the practice of  more Karate,  rather than less, is key to an ongoing active life of peace and vitality.  In Karate Do, we train our body for strength, develop a sharp mind and encourage the goodness in our heart.

"The ultimate aim of karate lies not in victory nor defeat, but in the perfection of the character of its participants"  - Master Gichin Funakoshi

This program is designed for your healthy heart and body coordination. We will employ the basics of the Heian forms to a slower cadence, with an emphasis on stretching and breathing control.  You might call it Karate with Taiichi rhythm.
